MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed)- A 24-year-old man has been charged with murder following a fatal shooting Thursday morning on State Boulevard, according to the Meridian Police Department.
Officers were dispatched around 10:30 a.m. to the 2900 block of State Boulevard after a report of a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Police said the victim was found at the scene and was pronounced dead.
Shortly after the shooting, the suspect turned himself in to the Meridian Police Department. Authorities identified him as Adrian Wallace, 24, who has been charged with murder. His bond was set at $1 million.
Preliminary information indicates the shooting stemmed from a family-related confrontation. Investigators said they believe the incident was isolated and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
In a statement, the Meridian Police Department extended condolences to the victim’s family and loved ones.
