One arrested after drug task force serves search warrant in Meridian

MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed)- One person was arrested Thursday morning after the East Mississippi Drug Task Force, assisted by the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department SWAT team, served a search warrant at a residence in the city, authorities said.

The warrant was executed at about 7 a.m. at a home in the 5900 block of 1st Street. Marquise Cole was arrested and charged with sale of methamphetamine within 1,500 feet of a church, with bond set at $75,000; possession of methamphetamine within 1,500 feet of a church while in possession of a firearm, with bond set at $100,000; and felon in possession of a firearm, with bond set at $75,000.

Authorities said two handguns were seized from the residence, one of which was listed as stolen in Los Angeles, California. The arrest is part of an ongoing investigation into individuals selling illegal drugs in the community.
