MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Three men have been sentenced to life without parole in the 2023 killing of Jakavion Markim Adams in Meridian, according to the Office of the District Attorney for the Tenth Circuit Court District.
District Attorney Kassie Coleman announced Friday that Antonio Devon Clay, 25, Rodriguez Davis, 22, and Joshua Hearn, 26, were each sentenced by Circuit Court Judge Robert Bailey to life without parole in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
Following a one-week trial, a Lauderdale County jury convicted the three men of murdering Adams on May 23, 2023, near the intersection of Poplar Springs Drive and North Hills Street.
“These gang members carried out this calculated killing in broad daylight in a highly traveled area of Meridian at 2:30 in the afternoon. The District Attorney’s Office will continue to seek the maximum sentence for violent offenders who endanger the safety of our community.” said Coleman.
Members of Adams’ family attended the trial and expressed relief that justice had been served, according to the release.
The Meridian Police Department investigated the case. The prosecution was led by District Attorney Kassie Coleman and Assistant District Attorney Tommy Whitfield.
“I want to thank all the agencies who assisted us with trial this week. The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department, the Meridian Fire Department, the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the Madison Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Transportation Security Administration worked tireless to maintain a safe and secure courtroom.”
