Meridian Police Department Seeks Public’s Assistance Locating Wanted Suspect

The Meridian Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating Demetric Lewis Mitchell, a Black male, date of birth October 2, 1979, who is wanted on two counts of aggravated assault, a one count of drive by shooting, stemming from a shooting incident that occurred on Saturday, June 13, 2026, between approximately 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. in the 4200 block of Paulding Street in Meridian.

Mitchell is wanted in connection with two aggravated assault charges involving a deadly weapon during the incident.

Assistant Chief Dareall Thompson said investigators are actively working to locate Mitchell and are asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact law enforcement immediately.

“Our investigators continue to pursue every available lead,” Thompson said. “We encourage anyone who knows where Demetric Lewis Mitchell may be located to contact the Meridian Police Department or Crime Stoppers. Your information could help bring this case to a safe and successful conclusion.”

Authorities remind the public that anyone who knowingly harbors, conceals, or assists a wanted fugitive will face felony criminal charges.
