MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – The Meridian Police Department is investigating a homicide after a man was found fatally shot early Sunday morning.
According to the Meridian Police Department, officers responded at approximately 6 a.m. Sunday, July 26, to the 2700 block of 16th Street, where they located an adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the investigation remains active as detectives continue processing the scene, interviewing witnesses and reviewing available surveillance video.
Assistant Chief Darrell Thompson is asking residents in the area to assist investigators if they have information that could help the case.
“If you live in the area and have doorbell camera footage, security camera video, or any information that could assist investigators, we encourage you to contact the Meridian Police Department or Crime Stoppers,” Thompson said. “Even the smallest detail could be important.”
Authorities have not released the victim’s identity or announced any arrests.
The Meridian Police Department said additional information will be released as it becomes available. The investigation remains ongoing.
