LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – The Lauderdale County School District is expanding its partnership with the Meridian-Lauderdale County Public Library by providing all district students with a free public library card in May.

District officials said the initiative builds on a partnership launched in the fall and is designed to enhance classroom learning by connecting families with additional educational resources.

Through the program, students will have access to online homework help services, including tutoring and test preparation tools. The library cards will also provide access to digital resources such as e-books, research databases and public computers.

District leaders said the library access is offered at no cost to families and is intended to support — not replace — the existing school curriculum.

As part of the program, the district will share basic directory information with the library for educational purposes. Officials said no student data will be sold.

Parents or guardians who do not want their child to receive a public library card must opt out by March 7, 2026, using an online form available on the Lauderdale County School District website.
