LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed)-George Butler Road and Knox Road in Toomsuba have reopened to traffic following the completion of cross-drain pipe replacement projects, county officials announced.
According to the Lauderdale County Road & Bridge Department, the work on George Butler Road was completed by the department’s Satellite D crew, while the Knox Road project in Toomsuba was handled by the Satellite A crew.
Officials said the pipe replacements were designed to improve drainage performance, protect the roadway from future damage and enhance overall safety. Crews completed the projects earlier than anticipated, allowing both roadways to reopen.
County officials thanked residents and motorists for slowing down, using alternate routes and allowing crews the space needed to complete the work safely and efficiently.
Drivers are still urged to use caution in the area, as road shoulders and work zones may contain loose material.
