JONES COUNTY — The Jones County Sheriff’s Department, working with Jones College Campus Police, arrested an 18-year-old man wanted in Fort Worth on a capital murder warrant.
The suspect, Jaden Grays, was arrested Monday morning at Jones College after a tip from an area resident and information received from the Covington County Sheriff’s Department, officials said. Authorities said the Covington County agency alerted investigators after a license plate reader registered a “hit” matching the tag on Grays’ vehicle.
The arrest was made without incident on the college campus, officials said. Grays was taken to the Jones County Adult Detention Facility, where he is being held pending extradition proceedings.
Jones College said in a statement that there is no known threat to the campus and that school officials are working with law enforcement.
Jones County Sheriff Joe Berlin said deputies, investigators and narcotics agents joined campus police in making the arrest. Berlin said his office is in contact with Texas authorities and will work with them to move the extradition process forward.
