JACKSON – Animal Rescue Fund of Mississippi is asking for donations after 10 puppies were brought to its shelter after found abandoned at a stop sign in Jackson.

In a social media post, ARF said a nearby resident found a box of puppies at a stop sign near the shelter and brought them in shortly before closing. A bystander told the resident the puppies had been at the location for at least three days, according to the post.

ARF said three puppies had already died before the remaining 10 were found.

The rescue group said the puppies are about 4 weeks old and are being treated at its clinic. ARF said staff have bathed the puppies, removed fleas, and started deworming medication and intestinal antibiotics.

The organization said young puppies are especially vulnerable and that risk is higher in abandonment cases.

ARF is asking for donations to help cover medical care and said it also expects to seek foster homes once the puppies are stable enough for placement.

If you want to foster or adopt one of the sweet babies once they are healthy, you can apply to adopt on their page!
