The fully involved fire broke out around 5 a.m. in the 1100 block of 34th Avenue, according to Meridian Fire Department Chief Deputy Eric Hardy.
Hardy said the man suffered second- and third-degree burns on approximately 30% of his body. He was airlifted to a hospital in Jackson for treatment.
The Mississippi State Fire Marshal’s Office has been contacted to investigate the cause of the fire. Officials said the investigation is ongoing.
