MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – One person was injured in a shooting Sunday morning on the 3100 block of 5th Street in Meridian, according to Assistant Chief Dareall Thompson with the Meridian Police Department.
The incident happened around 9:30 a.m. One individual was taken to a local hospital by private vehicle with non-life-threatening injuries, Thompson said.
A witness reported that two males got into an altercation, and both pulled weapons before one was shot.
Thompson said the incident appears to be isolated, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The shooting remains under investigation.
