LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – A 10-year-old boy who was reported missing in Lauderdale County has been found safe Friday morning following an extensive multi-agency search.
According to Lauderdale Emergency Management Agency Director Odie Barrett, the child was located at approximately 9:30 a.m. in a wooded area about 100 yards off Lizelia Road, near where he was last seen.
The boy was found safe and is being transported to a local hospital for observation as a precaution.
The child had been reported missing after last being seen in the area of the 9000 block of Lizelia Road near the intersection of Lost Horse Road, prompting an overnight search and a public appeal for assistance.
Barrett credited the successful outcome to the coordinated efforts of numerous first responders and community volunteers who participated in the search.
Agencies assisting included the Lauderdale County Fire Department, Meridian Fire Department, Clarke County Emergency Management Agency, Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department, Marion Police Department, Meridian Police Department, Naval Air Station Meridian, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, Lauderdale Emergency Management Agency, along with numerous volunteers from the community.
