Suspect Arrested After Armed Robbery in Lauderdale County Tuesday

LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Lauderdale County deputies responded Tuesday evening to a reported armed robbery on Highway 19 South.

According to Sheriff Ward Calhoun, deputies received an E-911 call reporting the incident at approximately 6:30 p.m. in the 4200 block of Highway 19 South. The suspect reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle traveling north toward Meridian before deputies arrived.

A responding deputy later spotted a vehicle near the intersection of Highway 19 South and Whynot-Causeyville Road, parked on the side of the road. A black male wearing clothing matching the suspect’s description provided by dispatch was located near the vehicle and detained by the deputy.

Investigators have been notified and are conducting a formal investigation. Sheriff Calhoun said additional information will be released as the investigation progresses.
