JACKSON, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – All clinics operated by the University of Mississippi Medical Center across the state will remain closed Feb. 23 and 24 following a cyberattack reported Thursday.
Elective procedures scheduled for those days have been canceled, and appointments will be rescheduled when possible, according to Medical Center officials.
Officials said Medical Center teams continue to work with federal and state agencies, as well as national cybersecurity experts, as they respond to the incident.
Phone systems and the ability to send and receive emails remain down or unreliable, officials said.
Emergency departments and hospitals operated by the Medical Center in Jackson, Madison County, Grenada and Holmes County remain open and continue caring for patients. The Medical Center is working to address the needs of patients who require contact regarding medical or medication concerns.
Officials said patients receiving ongoing, time-sensitive care have been contacted to make necessary treatment arrangements.
Dr. LouAnn Woodward, vice chancellor for health affairs, said care teams continue providing services while the Medical Center works to resolve the issue safely and effectively.
